Biography

Lucky moved to Richmond in 1947 and began volunteering in the Joseph Moore Museum. She was not formally employed by Earlham, however, until fall 1949, when she was appointed Instructor in Biology and Assistant in Soils and Museum Research. She continued under the Instructor title until 1961, when she became Lecturer in Biology. In 1967 she became Assistant Professor. On completing her Ph.D. in entomology at Purdue in 1970, she was promoted to Associate Professor of Biology, and became full Professor of Biology in 1975. She held that title until her formal retirement in 1991.

She cut back from full-time teaching in 1982. She continued to teach and work in the museum until her formal retirement in 1991, when she received emeritus status, although she returned to work in the museum in the winter 1992 quarter.
