Obituary:

William T. Fishback (January 28, 1922-March 9, 2014), Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Earlham College, passed away on March 9, 2014, at Friends Fellowship Community. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on January 28, 1922, to Richard and Loraine Thompson Fishback and graduated from Mansfield, Ohio Senior High School. After receiving his A.B. from Oberlin College, Bill went on to earn an M.A. and Ph.D. in mathematics from Harvard University. During World War II he was a staff member at the M.I.T. Radiation Laboratory, a major government radar development agency. Bill taught at the University of Vermont and Ohio University prior to coming to Earlham in 1966. Over the years he held visiting appointments at SUNY New Paltz, Clark University, Harvard University, and Denison University. He served on the boards of the Richmond Adult Day Care Center, Meals on Wheels, and the Society for the Preservation and Use of Resources. For many years Bill delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels Program and served as the treasurer for First Friends Meeting.
