Biography
Hugh S. Barbour (1921-2021) was born in China to missionary parents. After completing his doctorate at Yale, he joined the Earlham Religion Department in 1954, retiring in 1990. A convinced Friend, he was one of the world’s most respected authorities on Quakerism and its history and active in many Quaker and inter-faith organizations.
