 Person

Biography

In 1907, Earlham became one of the few colleges to receive a donation from Andrew Carnegie for a library. He offered $30,000, and the college raised an additional $30,000 in order to have “the most perfect library possible.” After Lilly Library was built, the old library became Tyler Hall. This interior shot shows the library reading room soon after opening.
