Biography

Ernest Atkins Wildman (1889-1966) came from a Quaker family in Selma, Ohio. A 1912 Earlham graduate, he went on to take a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Illinois. He returned to Earlham to teach in 1919, giving up a position with the Eli Lilly Company in Indianapolis because he was expected to purchase war bonds, something incompatible with his Quaker faith. Wildman Science Library commemorated him.
