Biography

Edwin Pritchard Trueblood (1861-1951), or “Prof Ed,” as he was known, was Earlham’s longest-serving faculty member. An 1885 graduate, he became professor of speech and oratory in 1888, retiring in 1939. He returned to teach some classes during World War II. He is regarded as the “father of Earlham athletics.” Earlham’s intercollegiate athletic program developed under his leadership in the 1890s. Trueblood Fieldhouse commemorates him.
