Biography

Florence Long (1889-1981) was a native of Pierceton, Indiana. She graduated from Earlham in 1913 and joined the Mathematics Department faculty a year later. She remained on the faculty until retiring in 1959. Never married, for most of her career she lived in Old Earlham Hall and Olvey-Andis as head resident. Among her last students was Margaret Heafield Hamilton, the 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom winner.
