Elwood Garner Diaries, 1890-1891
Scope and Contents
The Elwood and Luella Garner Papers reflect Quaker life in Indiana at the end of the nineteenth centurry. The letters and diaries include comments on religion, education, politics, and other facets of rural life. The Garner Papers consist of four diaries kept by Elwood Garner from 1887 to 1891 and letters between Elwood and Luella before and after their marriage. Many were written while Elwood Garner was a student at the Indiana State Normal School in Terre Haute, Indiana. Also included in the collection is a transcription of the 1891 diary with genealogical information and identications of many of the persons mentioned.
