Minute Book, April 28, 1903 to Sept. 14, 1908
Scope and Contents
The Mary F. Thomas Woman's Christian Temperance Union was one of several local affiliates of the WCTU in Wayne County, Indiana, before 1920. Named in honor of Dr. Mary Frame (Myers) Thomas (1815-1888), one of the first female medical doctors in Indiana and an early advocate of temperance, it was chartered in 1896. Members were Richmond residents, many of them Quakers. The collection consists of minute books from 1898 to 1921, correspondence, programs, and a journal and scrapbook kept by member Rowena Randle while attending the national WCTU convention in 1909.
