Special Collections of Faculty Personal Papers: Carol Hunter spans two boxes. The first half of the collection includes items (faculty memos, policy information, student papers, etc) that were important to Carol Hunter's professional career at Earlham College as a member of the History Department. Dates in the first box span from the early 1990s to 2009 (senior capstone projects). This box is in a well preserved condition with no damage to the documents and nothing is particularly fragile or delicate. Every item inside of Box 1 is made of paper material (documents, flyers, newsletters). One of the most interesting parts of this box involves the relations of Conner Prairie and Earlham College in the 1990s. It is a topic that is discussed in depth, especially the desire to make Conner Prairie a more useful resource for Earlham College students and faculty. This box serves as a helpful insight into Carol Hunter's career as a professor at Earlham College. It details what was important enough to her to perserve (harrassment policy adaptions spanning many years, information regarding multicultural education, student assignments, etc). It offers an interesting perspective into Carol Hunter's values as well as the values of Earlham College as an insitution in the 1990s. The items are direct and their purpose is not difficult to place into perspective. This box can be viewed and understood without much outside context or background awareness. The second half of the collecton contains Carol Hunter's genealogy research. It includes pedigree charts, handwritten notes, and genealogy index cards. There is little context provided for this research. Ohio's Miami Valley and Quaker Families are reoccuring themes. This box also holds photographs, film slides, a cross stitch sample, and a paper sleeve to protect printed photographs. The film slides and the photographs relate to headstones at two cemeteries (West River Cemetery and Nest River Friends Cemetery), especially featuring the 1984 dedication of a Walter Thornburg stone. The cross stitch sample displays the phrase 'Forever thine'.
