Biographical or Historical Information
Elisha Caleb Deane (1834-1895) was the son of Elisha and Isabella (Spalding) Deane (1805-1873), Hicksite Friends who were members of the Rochester Monthly Meeting, New York. Elisha, Sr., died while his son was a child, and his mother then married John Webster (1788-1860), a Hicksite Friend. They moved to East Hamburg Monthly Meeting, near Buffalo. In 1866 Elisha married Sarah Phoebe Dakin (1840-1931), the daughter of Elbridge and Nancy (Stearns) Dakin.
