Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a typescript with extracts of letters of the Hilles and Dugdale families, Hicksite Quakers in Clark and Columbiana counties, Ohio, and Jay County, Indiana, concerning attempts to organize utopian communities in Champaign County, Ohio, and Jay County between 1843 and 1846. The communities were an outgrowth of the Society for Universal Inquiry and Reform, organized in Oakland, Ohio, in 1842.
