Charles E. Hiatt was born in Wabash County, Indiana, and died in Union City, Indiana. Bennington L. McVicker (died 1964) was superintendent of schools in Marion, Indiana.

Hinshaw received the material from a great-granddaughter of Charles E. Hiatt.
