Genealogical material, photographs, and correspondence relating to the family of Job Swain (1806-1877) of Muncie, Indiana. Job Swain (1806-1877) was a native of Jefferson County, Tennessee, the son of Elihu and Sarah (Mills) Swain. He migrated to Wayne County, Indiana, with his parents in 1815. In 1825 he was disowned by Springfield Monthly Meeting for dancing and deviating from plainness. He married Nancy Hodge (1803-1858) in 1830 and settled in Muncie, Indiana, where he was a leading merchant and lived until his death.
