Biographical / Historical
Lydia Newby was born in Randolph County, North Carolina, in 1830, the daughter of Elias and Lydia (Presnall) Newby, Orthodox Friends who moved to Henry County, Indiana, in 1832. She was twice married, first to Pearson Palmer (1822-1890) and second to Joseph Pearson (1815-1903). Although she spent almost all of her life in Henry County, Indiana, she died in Indianapolis in 1912.
