Miriam A. Maxwell Collection
Miriam A. Maxwell was born in Richmond, Indiana, in 1869, the daughter of John M. and Mary Ann (Moore) Maxwell. In 1898, she married William W. Ives, a dry goods merchant in Delphi, Indiana, and Shawnee, Oklahoma. The collection consists of calling cards, invitations, wedding announcements, and two long letters about social life in Richmond. Miriam Jane Hill Commonplace Book
Miriam Jane Hill (1831-1906) was an Orthodox Quaker woman who lived in Richmond and Rush County, Indiana, and was a student at Friends Boarding School in 1850. This commonplace book contains poetry, mainly religious and didactic. Of special interest is “On the Death of Lydia Sanders,” about the murder of a young Quaker woman in Highland County, Ohio, in 1818. Gift of Louis and Mary Ruth (Brown) Jones, 2002.
Miriam Wilson Green Henley Correspondence
She was a resident of Wayne Co. There are letters she received from family and friends. Included are letters from Cyrus Green, a pacifist during the Civil War, and Daniel P. Wooten, a member of the Union Army, giving contrasting Quaker views of the war.
