The American Friend was a journal published in Richmond, Ind. from January 1867 to December 1868 by a group of prominent young Gurneyite Quakers. This collection includes minutes of the board of editors, 1866-1868, the cashbook listing agents and subscribers, and some miscellaneous manuscripts.

Lois S. Vaught was a Friends missionary in China from 1931 to 1944. This collection consists of a copy of a letter to Bea Kimball of Richmond, Ind., 1992, and a reminiscence of mission life in China. Gift of Bea Kimball, 1992.

Elder Daniel Bowman (1809-1894) was a prominent German Baptist minister who lived near Hagerstown, Wayne County, Ind. The collection consists of a typescript of a record of marriages performed by him, 1856-1888. Gift of Mary Wright Dennis, 1992.

Asa Douglas (1776-1855) was an Orthodox Friend who lived in the vicinity of Rochester, New York. This collection consists of memoranda in diary form, 1818-1819, and a letter to Emmer Bowen, 1822.

John Henry Douglas (1832-1917) was a well-known Quaker minister and revivalist in Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Oregon, and California. This collection consists of two letters, 1901 and 1913, to Rufus M. Jones. Photocopies of originals at Haverford College.

Elizabeth Drinker (1737-1794) was a Philadelphia Friend, recorded a minister in 1776, who died on a visit to England in 1794. This collection consists of a memorial of Gracechurch Street Monthly Meeting.

Membership Book, 1880-1883. This group of Gurneyite Friends held annual conferences devoted to both secondary and higher education. Gift of Harlow Lindley, 1946.

The Franklin Literary Junto was a literary society connected with the Friends monthly meeting school at Bloomingdale, Ind. This volume contains its constitution, minutes 1844-1846, and some essays and poetry, including a poem by Addison Coffin.
