Friends Africa Industrial Mission Collection

The Friends Africa Industrial Mission was established by Gurneyite Friends in the US in 1901 for missionary work in Africa. It supported the Friends Mission ar Kaimosi in what is now Kenya. These minutes cover Sept. 20, 1901, to April 27, 1911, when control of the Kaimosi mission was turned over to the American Friends Board of Missions. Photocopy of the original record book at Malone College; gift of John Oliver, 1991.

The American Friend was a journal published in Richmond, Ind. from January 1867 to December 1868 by a group of prominent young Gurneyite Quakers. This collection includes minutes of the board of editors, 1866-1868, the cashbook listing agents and subscribers, and some miscellaneous manuscripts.

Frederick Loten Beeson (1877-1949) and wife Laura Davis Beeson (1978-1965) were members of prominent Quaker families in Dalton Township, Wayne County, Ind. This collection, consisting of newspaper clippings, obituaries, correspondence, a Beeson genealogy, and reminiscences of Laura Davis Beeson, relates to Beeson and Davis family members and life in the Dalton and Hagerstown area.
