Joseph Tomlinson (1778-1820) was a Friend who moved with his family from Randolph County, North Carolina, to Orange County, Indiana, in 1818. This notebook contains a family record, a copy of marriage certificate to Jemima Bray, and a diary of their trip from North Carolina to Indiana. Gift of Chris McFall, 2000.

Newton Albertson Trueblood (1834-1895) was a businessman and active Friend in Kokomo and Raysville, Indiana. This collection consists of a volume of essays, some dated 1850-1857, some undated, written while Trueblood was a student at the Blue River Friends Seminary in Washington County, Indiana, and at Friends Boarding School. Thomas Hollowell Trueblood (1826-1907) was a Hicksite Friend of Blue River Monthly Meeting, Washington County, Indiana. This collection consists of a journal of Trueblood's travels in 1849 with the minister Priscilla Cadwalader. Gift of Margaret E. Trueblood, 2000.

Thomas Kirk Bufkin (1840-1927) was a Gurneyite Friend, born in Henry County, Indiana, who moved to Iowa as a child and in 1883 to Pasadena, Calif. Bufkin's journal is an autobiography that describes his pioneer experiences in Iowa, his travels in the United States, his family, and his work as a Quaker. Typescript, gift of Keith R. John D. Carter (1811-1900) was a minister of White Lick Monthly Meeting of Friends in Morgan County, Indiana. His papers include correspondence, business receipts, and a brief diary, 1869, kept by his wife, Ruth (Pickett) Carter (1815-1888). Gift of Rachel Ruoma, 1994.

Dr. James E. Connett (1862-1929) served as a Quaker missionary at Douglas, Alaska, between 1890 and 1895. This collection consists of clippings, notebooks, photographs, and diaries reflecting Connett's life as well as a register for the Friends Mission School at Douglas, 1889-1892. John Henley (1815-1899) was an Orthodox Friend of Wayne County, Indiana. This collection consists of his 1835 autograph book from Whitewater Friends School; the Road District No. 2, New Garden Township, Superintendent's Book for 1848-1849; and a personal account book for 1857; a certificate from his 80th birthday celebration; and abstracts from the records of New Garden Monthly Meeting, 1843-1869, concerning Henley activities. Letters and a composition book of Jediah Hussey (1769-1821) of New Garden, Guilford County, North Carolina. The letters were written mainly by Jediah Hussey and his sister Sarah while living in York, Pa., between 1783 and 1804, but also includes two written by family members in Indiana and Ohio.

Adrian A. Parsons (1846-1929), a native of Guilford County, North Carolina, spent most of his life in Hendricks County, Indiana. Parsons served in the Union army during the Civil War, and was a student in Earlham College in 1867-1868. He was well-known as an advocate of scientific farming and published widely in agricultural journals. The collection consists of biographical material and copies of his writings and military records.
