Abstract

The Louis and Mary Ruth Jones Collection reflects the lives of several generations of Quaker families—Jones, Mather, Evans, Newlin, Brown, White, Parker, and others—in Pennsylvania, the Carolinas, and especially Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and Kansas between 1800 and 2000. Of special interest are extensive materials on the establishment of Quakerism in Cuba through the work of Louis Jones’s parents, Sylvester and Mae (Mather) Jones.

One chapter of a typescript, dealing with reminiscences of Quaker relatives, in Richmond, Indiana, and adjacent areas, by Louis J. Francisco (1884-1949). Louis J. Francisco, son of Charles A. and Hannah (Dickinsonj) Francisco, was a native of Richmond, Indiana, who died in San Francisco. Through his mother he was related to several prominent Indiana Quaker families. He was a student at Earlham 1898-1901.

Louise Allender Stinetorf Collection

Scope and Contents

The Stinetorf Collection consists of five scrapbooks assembled by Stinetorf, containing correspondence with publishers, editors, and agents, fan mail, contrasts, reviews, and other material dealing with her writings, along with a number of book an short story manuscripts. Also included are copies of many of her short stories and poems. There are a few photographs, apparently taken for publicity purposes in the 1950s. The earliest material dates from 1940, the latest from about 1966.

Scope and Contents The Loula (Howell) Thomas Papers consist of genealogical information and diaries of Loula (Howell) Thomas (1891-1972), a Quaker farmwife in Grant County, Indiana. Most of this collection consists of Loula Thomas's diaries from 1933 until two days before her death in 1972. They reflect life in a small midwestern town: work, church, visiting, and the births, marriages, and deaths of neighbors and family. Loula Thomas was also interested in genealogy, and not only kept careful track of events...

Luther Daniel Leibold (1877-1957) was a farmer who lived near Williamsburg, Wayne County, Indiana. This small collection consists of an account book, probably done as a school exercise in 1894, and the patent papers for an invention in 1922 with related correspondence. Purchase, 2008.
