Clarkson Parker Collection

Daniel G. Reid Papers

Scope and Contents The Daniel G. Reid Papers consists of correspondence and some financial documents. The bulk of the material is for 1921-1922. Mainly correspondence, it documents Reid's many business and financial interests and the many applications that he received for donations. The Eli and Mahalah Jay collection contains material regarding their lives and families from roughly the 1840s to the early 1900s. The major strength of the collection is its correspondence section including Jay family correspondence, Ballard correspondence, and Mahalah Jay's Missionary correspondence. The collection also includes journals, addresses, compositions, and essays that express the Jays opinions on many topics. This is a rich collection for nineteenth century Quakerism.

Elwood and Luella Garner Papers

Scope and Contents The Elwood and Luella Garner Papers reflect Quaker life in Indiana at the end of the nineteenth centurry. The letters and diaries include comments on religion, education, politics, and other facets of rural life. The Garner Papers consist of four diaries kept by Elwood Garner from 1887 to 1891 and letters between Elwood and Luella before and after their marriage.
