Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection has been arranged in five series. The first consists of correspondence. The earliest letters are between mary R. Hoag and sisters. Most of the correspondence, however, is between Lindley and Maria Clark and Mary Clark or the Young family. It concerns family, Quaker affairs, and Lindley's education and career. The second series consists of genealogical material collected by Lindley D. Clark, including typescripts of letters of the Robinson family of Rhode Island. The third series is an essay by Edward C. Young on the death of his mother. The fourth consists of Daniel and Mary (Hoag) Clark's autograph books from their time at Friends Boarding School. The last series consists of copies of family photographs, including a striking image of Mary R. (Hoag) Clark's mother, Abigail (Robinson) Hoag.
