The William Hugh Headlee Papers are a modest collection of the Earlham-related papers of a prominent alumnus of Earlham College, Class of 1929. They reflect mainly his alumni and fund-raising activities for the college.

Biographical or Historical Information
William Hugh Headlee was born in Van Buren Township, Shelby County, Indiana, June 15, 1907. He enrolled at Earlham in 1925, and graduated with the class of 1929. During his undergraduate years, he was a biology lab instructor and a staff member at the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole, Mass. He received his Ph.D. in parasitology from Tulane University in 1935. He then joined the faculty of Purdue University, where he taught until 1943, when he became a member of the faculty of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He retired as Professor of Parasitic Diseases in 1977. He died in Indianapolis, Sept. 28, 1989.
