Kathleen Zambelli Papers

 Collection
Identifier: FMS-146

Scope and Contents

This collection consists primarily of drafts of writings by Earlham graduate Kathleen Zambelli. Many of the writings appear to have been written for classes and for personal use while she studied at Earlham. There are also notes from courses, presumably taken at Earlham. Some of the collection is post-Earlham and appears to be used for teaching at other institutions. Most of the material is handwritten. There is a very small amount of correspondence which includes letters from Miami University where Zambelli studied in the 1960s and information from Ellis Island she collected for a course project on immigration.

Biographical or Historical Information

Kathleen Mary Zambelli was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, April 16, 1933, the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Barry) Zambelli. She enrolled at Earlham College in 1953, but withdrew in 1955, because in her own words, she was "not doing [her] best work constantly." She returned in 1957 and graduated in 1960. While at Earlham, she majored in English and was mentored by Wayne Booth. After Earlham, Zambelli studied for a time at Miami University, then completed the M.A. at Ball State University in 19667. She moved to Florida, where she taught English and worked as a realtor. She died in Pinellas County, Florida, April 2, 1960.
