Biographical or Historical Information

Charlotte (Hussey) Wood (1879-1960) was a recorded minister among Conservative Friends in New Jersey, New York, and Ohio for much of her life. Charlotte Hussey was born in Cayuga County, New York, July 5, 1879, the daughter of Samuel B. and Rachel (Wood) Hussey. Her parents were among the traditionalist Friends who had seperated from the larger New York Yearly Meeting (Orthodox) in the 1850s because of what they viewed as its unacceptable acceptance of innovation. In 1906 Charlotte Hussey married Francis Wells, a member of Pickering Monthly Meeting in Ontario, Canada. After their marriage they lived in Haddonfield, New Jersey, in Ithaca, New York, and in the community of Conservative Friends at Middleton, Ohio. Charlotte died there August 27, 1960.
