Mary Catherine Sample Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of scrapbooks of clippings and ephemera accumulated by Mrs. Sample (born 1913), her mother Ida Luella (Moore) Templin (1883-1958), and grandmother, Jemima (Jones) Moore (1854-1934), all of whom lived in the vicinity of Milton and Richmond in Wayne County. The collection originated as a series of scrapbooks. Thus arrangement of the various clippings and documents is in no particular order. Also included in the collection are several 1876 issues of the Milton News, with a history of the town by Dr. Joel Pennington. It also included three large framed photographs. Many of the clippings are obituaries for Quaker residents of Wayne and Henry counties.
