Content Description

Diaries, account books, autograph books, and poetry books of two apparently unrelated families in Columbiana County, Ohio, but found as a group. The first consists of Heald family materials. Included are 4 volumes of diaries of John Heald: one, 1811, of a visit to Friends in Ohio and Indiana; the second and third, dated 1816, of a visit to Friends in Virginia; and the last, undated, but ca 1815, of a visit to Friends in New York and New England. Also included is a manuscript "Corrections of False Syntax," 1813, copied by John Heald's daughter Rebecca; and manuscript volumes of poetry and an autograph book, 1832-1844. The other group consists of account books,1882-1901, kept by an unidentified Friend in the Salem, Ohio, area; and 3 pocket diaries, 1913-1914, kept by Horace G. Morlan, Jr.
