Scope and Contents
Tom King, a California Friend,was interested in the history of liberal Quakers on the West Coast. He transcribed the diaries and letters of Joel Bean (1825-1914), a central figure in 19th century Quakerism and founder of what became Pacific Yearly Meeting. The original diaries and letters are at Swarthmore, but Swarthmore gave us permission to reproduce the transcripts here.
