The Vernon Family Papers consist of correspondence, business documents, and genealogical material relating to the family of Richard Vernon (1789-1877) of Stokes County, NC and Jefferson County, IN. The correspondence includes letters from relatives in Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina with comments on farming, slavery, business, and the coming of the Civil War.

Virgil H. Kruel Collection
The collection consists of materials collected by Virgil H. Kruel (1918-2003) concerning pacifism during World War II. The collection contains primarily pacifist literature and a few items of war propaganda. The correspondence includes information on Kruel's efforts to obtain conscientious objector status. it also includes a letter from someone named Chuck written from a Federal Correction Institute in Ashland KY regarding his experience in prison.
Virginia R. Sutton Papers
This collection reflects the work of Virginia Sutton, a Friend in Indianapolis, Indiana, on behalf of the Friends World Committee and the United Nations to counter extreme conversations, such as the John Birch Society, in the 1960's.
"Vision of Joseph Hoag"
Joseph Hoag (1761-1846) was a prominent Orthodox Friends minister in New York and Vermont. His "Vision" of 1803, which purportedly prophesied much future history, including the Civil War, was widely circulated in manuscript among Friends in the 1850s. This copy was in the family of Achilles Dicks (1795-1871), a Friend of Rush Creek Meeting, Parke County, Ind. Second copy from John Bell.
