Charles and Rachel Kirk Papers

Scope and Contents The Charles and Rachel Kirk Collection reflects the careers of two Gurneyite Friends from the Midwest who were missionaries in the Indian territory in the 1880s and 1890s. It is valuable for the development of Quakerism among Native Americans in what is now Oklahoma, and for Quaker missionary activities in the late nineteenth century. The Kirk Papers consist mainly of the diaries and letterbooks of Charles Kirk, which provide detailed information on the life of the Shawnee community. Also...

Charles Donald Winslow Letters

Charles Donald Winslow (1898- ), was a native of Carthage, Ind., attended Earlham College 1916-1917. He then became part of the Friends Reconstruction Unit working in France under the American Friends Service Committee. The letters describe his experiences there. Abstract

Correspondence, genealogy, autobiographical material, speeches, newspaper clippings, and photographs documenting the lives of Charles F. and Rhoda M. (Johnson) Coffin, 1831-1917.  Charles and Rhoda were Orthodox Quaker ministers with international reputations in prison reform.  Charles was a banker in Richmond, Indiana, and the clerk of Indiana Yearly Meeting of Orthodox Friends from 1857 to 1884.

Charles Kress Collection

Charles S. Hubbard Papers

Scope and Contents

Charles S. Hubbard (1829-1906) was an Orthodox Quaker farmer, merchant, and legislator of Raysville, Ind. This small collection consists of an autobiography that Hubbard wrote while a student at Friends Boarding School (now Earlham College) about 1847. Other Hubbard materials are in the college archives.
