Barnabas C. Hobbs Papers

The Hobbs Papers consist of correspondence and documents mainly reflecting Hobbs' trip to Europe in 1877-1878. Hobbs was sent to Germany and Russia with a message of peace and a request that the Mennonites not be forced to serve in the military.

Bell Family Papers

Scope and Contents The Bell Family papers document the lives of Quakers in Ireland and the United States. Most of the papers concern William Bell, a Quaker cotton manufacturer and editor of Belfast, Ireland, New York City, Cincinnati, and Richmond, Indiana. The Bell Papers include several types of documents. Most of the correspondence dates from the period 1811-1813, being copies of letters to William Bell from his mother, apparently written while he was away from home attending school, and from the 1840s....

Charlotte Hussey Wood Papers

Scope and Contents

Her papers include letters that reflect communication and connections among the small group of Conservative Friends in New Jersey, New York, and Ohio for much of her life. Correspondence constitutes the most significant portion of this collection. Included are letters from Cyrus Cooper of Ohio and William C. Cowperthwaite of Philadelphia, as well as family letters, which illustrate the nature of Conservative docterine and theology in the first half of the twentieth century.
