Mabel Leigh Hunt Collection

Scope and Contents

This collection consists largely of clippings and reminiscent material on Quaker life, especially in Indiana, that Hunt used in her writings. The collection also contains a few pre-1860 Quaker letters from Morgan and  Hamilton counties in Indiana.

Martha Doan Papers

The Martha Doan Papers consist of a small group of letters written to her as well as account books of her father Abel Doan (1843-1913); snaphsots of an Earlham College geology expedition in the 1920s; and a minute book of the Westfield, Indiana, Junto or Lyceum, a literary and debating society, 1868-1872.

Merle L. Davis Papers

The Merle L. Davis Papers consist of correspondence, notebooks, photographs, reports, and other materials documenting the career of Merle Leonard Davis as a Quaker minister, missionary, and administrator. The collection contains significant material for the history of the Five Years Meeting of Friends (now Friends United Meeting), Quaker missions, and Friends in Kenya and Cuba.

Mildred White Papers

Scope and Contents

Mildred White (1894-1988) was a Quaker teacher and missionary. Her papers illustrate the history of the Quaker schools at Ramallah, Palestine, life at Earlham College, and the history of Friends in Indiana. It includes not only family correspondence and photographs, but some genealogical material the Mildred White gathered and research material from Lois Jordan's biography of aunt, Ramallah Teacher, published in 1995.

Pike Family Papers

The Pike family were Orthodox Friends in the Jericho Quaker community in Randolph County, Indiana. This collection, consisting of correspondence, business papers, and photographs, documents the lives of the Pikes and their relatives in Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, and Kansas, mainly between 1860 and 1900.

Pusey Graves Collection

Scope and Contents The collection focuses on Pusey Graves's experiences in the California goldfields from 1850 to 1852.  The letters are unusually detailed in their observations about life during the Gold Rush. The Graves Collection consists of a biographical sketch of Pusey Graves by his son, Charles B. Graves, apparently written about 1900; twenty-eight letters written on the overland trail and in California between 1850 and 1852, and an account of a visit to the "spirit room" of Jonathan Koons in Athens...

Rachel Osborn Papers

Scope and Contents

The collection includes journals of her sermons (primarily from the 1960s and 1970s), personal diaries, scrapbooks from her travels to Colorado and England, family photographs, travel journals from missionary work, correspondence primarily pertaining to her work as a minister, and several original holiday plays written by Osborn. Also included in the collection is a subsection of material gathered by Jody Richmond who planned to write a biography of Osborn that never came to fruition.
