Gordon Reid Coffin, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a life-long Quaker. This collection documents his experience, from 1942 to 1946, as a participant in Civilian Public Service (CPS), the alternative service program for conscientious objectors during World War II.

The Henley-Trueblood Collection consists of photographs, daguerrotypes, and other images of nineteenth century Quakers largely in Washington and Rush Counties, IN. Most are related to Edwin P. Trueblood (1861-1951), long-time Earlham faculty member, and his wife Pennina (Henley) Trueblood (1863-1943). Many of the photographs are identified.

The Henry Wilson Papers reflect the life of a "weighty" Friend in southern Indiana in the first half of the nineteenth century. Although small, the collection is an important source for the migration of North Carolina Friends to Indiana.

The Huff-Nixon family papers consist of correspondence, legal and business papers, reminiscences, clippings, and genealogical materials of five generations of Quaker families in North Carolina and Indiana. Most of the material concerns the families of Samuel Nixon (1781-1865), his son-in-law Daniel Huff (1816-1899), and his son Dr. Oliver Nixon Huff (1852-1937) of Fountain City, Indiana, and Oliver Nixon Huff's wife, Sophia (Bogue) Huff (1866-1931).

This diary is apparently the only survivor of a long series that James Hadley kept, since the last entry notes that it continues in “vol. H.” Hadley made regular entries on a variety of topics: politics; the births, marriages, illnesses, and deaths of neighbors and family; and especially changes in Quakerism.
