Elkanah Beard Papers

Scope and Contents The Elkanah Beard Papers consist of two diaries kept by Elkanah Beard, a prominent Gurneyite Quaker minister of Winchester, Indiana, from 1868 to 1875 and 1877 to 1878. They reflect his participation in the missionary and revival movement that swept Gurneyite meetings in the Midwest in the 1870s.

Elwood and Luella Garner Papers

Scope and Contents The Elwood and Luella Garner Papers reflect Quaker life in Indiana at the end of the nineteenth centurry. The letters and diaries include comments on religion, education, politics, and other facets of rural life. The Garner Papers consist of four diaries kept by Elwood Garner from 1887 to 1891 and letters between Elwood and Luella before and after their marriage. Esther Fouts Jordan Collection

Scope and Contents Esther Jordan was an enthusiastic genealogist for many years and collected extensive material on her own and her husband's ancestry. Her organization by family groups and correspondents has been retained. Henley-Trueblood Collection

Henry Wilson Papers

Scope and Contents The Henry Wilson Papers reflect the life of a "weighty" Friend in southern Indiana in the first half of the nineteenth century. Although small, the collection is an important source for the migration of North Carolina Friends to Indiana. The most important item in the collection is Henry Wilson's autobiography, written in 1860.
